Eco-friendly plastic straws: the alternative to paper straws (2019-08-01)

With the increase in concern of the impact of plastic straws, there has been a surge in popularity for paper straws over the past few years. Many businesses are now making the switch to paper straws in a bid to be more environmentally friendly. The only downside is that paper straws is that they aren’t quite as robust as plastic straws. Parsley in Time noticed that paper straws are in a lot of cases frustrating and useless, due to them going soggy or bending which prevents any liquid passing through. Paper straws are also more expensive than plastic versions as are the reusable metal straws, which can be off-putting for businesses trying to cut costs. It was decided that there was a need for a plastic straw that has zero impact on the environment, and this is how Parsley in Time came to develop an oxo-biodegradable plastic straw, the Oxo Straw. Parsley-in-Time-launches-oxo-biodegradeable-straws Oxo Straws are available in a choice of widths and colourway. After use, they can be disposed of and will degrade in around one year. Our marketing manager Rob Blunderfield has explained the move to Oxo Straws. “Some customers want to keep offering the plastic straw because of its strength, so we looked for a green alternative that could do the job”. says Rob.“The Oxo Straws tick all the boxes–they are really strong, they look great and they are fully biodegradable.” Being oxo-biodegradable means the straws degrade in the open environment in the same way as natural waste, without leaving any toxic residues or fragments of plastic. You can purchase our Oxo Straws in packs of 250, starting from £1.35 per pack.
